Galleria Käpy – the house where to start experiencing Konnevesi

Galleria Käpy is more than just an art gallery – it’s a living part of Konnevesi’s cultural story, where creativity is shared, supported and celebrated.

Located at Kauppatie 68 in the former municipal building, Gallery Käpy has been operating for three decades as a collaborative effort between local artists. It has become a cornerstone of Konnevesi’s cultural life – a place where art, craftsmanship and community come together. The new association of Galleria Käpy (established 2/2026) is honouring history and focusing on local co-operation and promoting creativity and development of Arts and Crafts.

During the summer months, a cosy pop up café operates within the gallery, inviting visitors to enjoy local treats and the relaxed atmosphere of Konnevesi’s art scene. The fascination artisan shop offers handmade goods by local artists and craftspeople – perfect for finding unique gifts and souvenirs.

Kirstujen kätköistä – the ongoing Gallery exhibition is a selection of local heritage collection at Konnevesi museum. It presents clothing and accessories which were usually stored in wooden chests in old days. The exhibition honors the art of craftsmanship and the individuals who preserved textiles dating back more than a hundred years. Themes of program are preserving, restoring and conserving textiles.

The textile selection was created in collaboration with the Craft Museum of Finland’s textile conservator and the Museum of Central Finland’s regional amanuensis. The working group consisted of Jouko Leskinen (Konnevesi museum), and Anna-Maija Keurulainen and Hanne Laitinen (Gallery Käpy)
